Nate and Hallie Evans

Artist Bio
Graduates of Luther College in Decorah, Iowa, Nate and Hallie Evans have, for almost a decade, made their living as full-time potters who produce all the inventory of Allamakee Wood-Fired Pottery. Their functional stoneware and porcelain pieces use many indigenous clays and glazes, which, in combination with the subtle effects of wood-firing, yield highly distinct ceramic pieces.
While learning about their art, Nate and Hallie served an apprenticeship with the North Carolina potter, Mark Hewitt, whose use of the craft traditions of the Southern pottery continues to influence the couple's work, as do the classic forms associated with English and Oriental ceramics.
The Nate and Hallie exhibit their work throughout the Midwest, with their studio based in New Albin, Iowa.
